Casting Silver with Terri McCarthy

Learn to make simple wax models for your ring designs or small sculptures from casting botanicals.

DAY 1    Sunday March 12th, 2017    9am - 5pm  
Students will make wax rings, sprue to bases, and invest 2 flasks. One flask may be botanicals. Studio clean up at the end of the day.

DAY 2    Sunday March 26, 2017    11am - 5pm  
Finishing of castings will be covered while the flasks are burning out in the kiln. Students will cast their 2 flasks when burnout is complete. Studio clean up by all students at the end of the day.

1. Battery operated wax pen
2. 1 inch masking tape
3. Permanent marker
4. Apron
5. 1 sheet 450, 600, 1200 grit sandpaper wet/dry
6. Dust Mask
7. Wax files

1. 4 or more troy oz. of fine or sterling silver. (This may be clean scrap or casting grain.)
2. Dental pick if you have one
